The caves fell into a mob mentality and beat two of the three men to death that were causing so much trouble and hurting people. The spiritual leaders decided to place the bodies of the two dead on a hill top, exposed to the elements for the scavengers to have. I'm having conflicted thoughts and feelings about that, yes they hurt a lot of people and I don't think that they deserve to be buried on sacred ground. But to leave them for the scavengers, I don't know.
It sounds as if these characters have become real for you. Aside from description, how does Jean Auel do that?
ReplyDeleteThe characters have become real for me to a point. I've been thinking about your question and I can't pinpoint when or how it happened. I'm thinking that the characters became real for me over the course of reading the series. All the books in the series have resonated with me on a profound level. Jean Auel is a wonderful writer however I'm not sure if it is the writing or the context of the series that allowed the characters to come alive.
